Downtown Geyserville

Geyserville_sGeyserville is an unincorporated community just north of Healdsburg, CA. Its main drag, Geyserville Ave, is lined with shops, restaurants, and wine tasting rooms, making it an ideal place for sketch artists and wine tasters alike. After meeting for coffee at Geyserville Mud, followed by a couple of hours sketching, our group dropped into Diavola Restaurant. Here we enjoyed Neapolitan style pizza, a variety of seasonal salads, and cold drinks to round out a great day of sketching on a hot spring afternoon.

Ready, Set, Sketch: Westerbeke Ranch in Sonoma!

Screen Shot 2015-04-28 at 1.25.39 PMReady, Set, Sketch: Westerbeke Ranch in Sonoma!

Saturday May 9 — 9:45am-1pm

Westerbeke Ranch is a very special retreat center in Sonoma that has been family owned for generations. It is located on 9 acres, with hand-built buildings that were originally constructed as a family vacation compound. There are great stories about the evolution of the property and the many things that have happened there. This is one sketch meet-up you don’t want to miss!
I’ve been told we should park in the main parking lot and enter the regular way guests come to the Ranch.

All you need is something to draw on and something to draw with. There is no charge to get into the Coppola estate.

Please email me if you plan on attending. Richard (at) Artstudios dot com

I only finished a quick 20 minute sketch today while out with the sketch group. The rest of the time I was helping others with their sketches. A good day out!

Zazu Kitchen

Zazu_sThe Zazu Kitchen, located in the Barlow section of Sebastopol, CA., is an authentic farm to table restaurant. They grow much of their own produce and put together the menu after hunting through the gardens to see what’s ripe. A great place for lunch or dinner.

Ready, Set, Sketch: Schulz’s Redwood Empire Ice Arena!

schultz-museum-_sLets capture the spirit of the season by sketching at Schulz’s Redwood Empire Ice Arena in Santa Rosa!

Saturday December 13 (between 10am-1pm), we’ll meet at 10am in front of the ice rink. We’ll share our days sketches at 1pm.
Schulz’s Redwood Empire Ice Arena, situated across the street from the Peanuts Museum, opened 28 April, 1969 with a grand opening ceremony starring Peggy Fleming and the Vince Guaraldi Trio. The building mimics an Alpine village with faithful reproductions of Swiss chalet facades and giant redwood trees that tower over the property. Located in the same building as the ice skating rink, the Warm Puppy Cafe affords a panoramic view of the ice skaters and is the spot where Charles Schulz regularly ate breakfast and lunch. His table sits between the front door and the fireplace with a reserved sign and flowers honoring his memory.
Sketching indoors or out, there’s lots to draw!

Two skating sessions will be going on while we are there. Parents & Puppy Practice 10:30a – 12:00p and Public Skate 12:30p – 4:30p. Although most people are likely to be sketching indoors, the ice rink is cold so dress warmly. Sketching the skaters is free (unless, of course, you want to skate then admission is $9). Afterward, those of us who are hungry (and who isn’t hungry after a morning of sketching!) will have lunch in the Warm Puppy Cafe located at the Snoopy Ice skating rink.
After sketching, if you are interested in visiting the museum, there is a $10 charge.

All you need to join us is something to draw on and something to draw with. No experience necessary!

Hope to see you there!

And again, please dress warmly as it will be cold inside and out of the ice rink!
